The Fruit and nuts of Life In Jesus

Life isn’t always a “bowl of cherries” and we usually learn this fairly early in life. Perhaps there’s a bully at school, a best friend moves away, or a family member becomes very ill. Maybe a test is failed at school, or it seems as if nobody is really listening. For children, it may seem as if they never get to do what they want to do, or it could even be something simple, like they have to eat all their vegetables or go to bed early. We call things like this the “nuts” of life. When we encounter these “nuts”, sometimes we get angry, frustrated, sad, disappointed or annoyed.

The good news is that God has given us some tools to help us deal with the “nuts” we encounter in everyday life:

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!
— Galations 5:22-23

The characteristics listed in these verses are often called the Fruit of the Spirit and this “fruit” is given to us to help us handle the “nuts” in life.

We invite your children to join us for Vacation Bible School at 6:30 pm every Wednesday from July 17 through September 4, at River of Glory Church. They’ll meet Earl the Squirrel, Rovercomer, the dog, and other friends who will help them learn how to grab hold of this “fruit” and how to use it when they are faced with the “nuts” they will encounter.

This totally free event is open to the public and you can register online or download and print the registration form and bring it with you when you come. We look forward to seeing you and your children!

PLEASE NOTE: Weather permitting, we will be outside, so children should come dressed appropriately, with sunscreen already applied if needed. Water will be made available throughout our time together, and there will be a designated time for a healthy snack every week.
